Over Spinney is beautiful design for a replacement dwelling that has kerb appeal, around the immediate and wider environment. The current property, to be demolished, sits on the southern boundary of the Alderley Edge Conservation Area, but not greenbelt. Our Client wanted to maximise the size in an aesthetically sensitive design and to increase the plot's end-value with the benefit of Planning Approval for an attractive luxury countryside home.
Our brief was for an approx 10,000sqft dwelling, which would allow for: feature galleried entrance hallway, front of house cloaks / WC, grand stairway, formal lounge / dining, kitchen / breakfast / day room at the heart of the house, study, cinema / play room, utility / laundry / boot, five bed / five bath inc. master suite, Leisure Suite to include pool / sauna / steam / gym / jacuzzi, triple garage.
We approached the design informed by the architectural styles that characterise the Alderley Edge Conservation Area and strived to achieve an aesthetic that enhanced the character of the Conservation Area.
This new luxury home was designed sensitively in a modern 'Arts and Crafts' style, but not overtly contemporary. The 'Arts and Crafts' style is synonymous with the Alderley Edge Conservation Area.
The building materials were chosen to offer a traditional style, with a contemporary twist. The clever use of natural stone heads and cills are a stunning addition. Feature brickwork and timber facings were also key to the final design.
We have considered sustainability in the eco-friendly use of heating, grey water harvesting, solar / photo voltaic panels. Air sourced heating, possibly ground sourced heating, are also options, given the plot size.
