A luxury home on the edge of countryside, designed in the Georgian tradition with a modern twist.

This grand new home replaces an existing building and has been repositioned on the site, to improve the sense of arrival as well as pedestrian and vehicular access routes. The new position enables the rear garden to be enlarged, maximising sunshine and stunning views from the rear elevation. The internal layout of accommodation, is arranged to take advantage of the views and respond to the sunpath and shadows across the site.

The design aims to create a modern interpretation of a traditional Georgian country house. A combination of traditional and contemporary materials, will be used to achieve this. The brick quoins help to rhythm the main façade dimensions. The window brick and stone headers and pediments, recall the Georgian style and mark the elevational hierarchy. The stone entrance porch clearly identifies the entrance position. On the rear elevation, the master bedroom’s oriel window balances the study window on the ground floor, helping to show a more modern take.

Floor Plans

The floor plans follow a traditional organisation of space, with bedrooms at first floor and ground floor living spaces. On the ground floor, a full height entrance hall will split the formal area from the kitchen / informal lounge, whilst a formal dining room will be facing the rear garden. On the first floor, the full height entrance will clearly separate the master suite from the guest bedrooms. The south one-storey wing, will host a showroom for a classic car, which will be visible from the office, thanks to a glazed separation wall. The north wing will host utility services and a small studio / office. The basement will accommodate the Leisure Suite, which will have plenty of natural light, thanks to the south facing sunken courtyards. The basement will also accommodate a Guest Suite.
